It is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.  That is why you need a guide.  Ignorance is the most dangerous thing a person can possess.

How easy is it to install everything?

Once you have one of these guides, the process is pretty straight-forward.  However, if you are still uncomfortable doing it yourself, then you should bring it to your favorite mechanic and have him assemble and install it.

What do you think of ready-made conversion kits? Are they worth it?

It depends on your situation. Some of the more elaborate ready-made kits can run you anywhere from $100 - $1200.  If you don't have the time but have the money, then go for it.  However, my philosophy is this; "give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for life."

How many miles per gallon can I get with this system?

There are many factors that come into play when measuring mpg.  With all things considered, many people have reported a 30% increase in mpg.  Some have even reported a 50% increase!
